I’m Heather Thomas, the local owner and operator of Pet Wants Portsmouth RI, and my mission is to help our customers learn about the benefits of nutritious pet food, healthy treats, natural chews, supplements and to offer the best products for your dogs and cats.

I try to eat healthy, but I make sure that my dogs eat better than I do. It can be challenging because there are so many options available to feed our pets. It is important to feed our pets the best we can. Generally, if we eat healthier food, we’ll live longer, healthier lives. The same is certainly true for our pets.

I am a Registered Nurse and was drawn to Pet Wants because of the opportunity to combine my passion for caring for people with my love of dogs and cats. My mission is to educate our community about the benefits of feeding high quality pet food, treats, and chews. And to offer those great products with friendly, personalized service.

In our store you will find our Pet Wants brand of dry dog and cat food, freeze dried food, freeze dried and dehydrated treats, and cookies. Our dry food is made every 45 days with high-quality ingredients and never sits in a warehouse. This allows our customers to buy our food in small quantities and get fresh food with each purchase. We also carry a variety of high quality, freeze dried and frozen pet food, canned/wet food, gently cooked food, and great food toppers to help our customers feed the best food to their pets. In addition, we have limited ingredient cookies and treats, healthy natural chews, supplements, enrichment mats and toys, and pet health care products. We are also able to special-order many products that you may already use for your pets, just ask us!

We offer in-store shopping and online ordering with in-store pick up, delivery, and shipping options. We also attend various vendor events around the area.
